Rewarding employees for being kind to themselves

Challenge

Launch a new wellness program to 130,000 eligible employees, get 40% to register and 35% to reach “level 2” incentives within six months.

Solution

Create a multimedia campaign to promote the new program and a library of supporting resources to make earning points easier.

The campaign’s primary message was: Be kind to yourself. Health care workers often put the needs of others before their own and we wanted to remind them that the organization’s mission of compassion and kindness includes them, too. We kicked things off with a home mailer supported by worksite banner stands, table tents and local presentations. These items, as well as flyers distributed via Wellness Champions and local intranets, offered step-by-step instructions not only for registering, but also earning reward points by completing wellness activities.

Result

Our campaign surpassed all its stated goals. More than 54% of employees registered (30,000 within two weeks of launch) and 39% reached “level 2” incentives.
