Challenge
Promote adherence to company guidelines for the use of personal safety gear and encourage employees to put their safety training into practice on the job.
Solution
A campaign that linked key safety behaviors to the things employees cared about most: each other.
This producer of combustible ordnance and countermeasure products was communicating daily with manufacturing employees about safety, but they weren’t seeing the level of compliance they wanted. After speaking with front-line managers and workers, we discovered that these employees cared deeply about keeping each other safe. The communication needed that same level of emotion. We developed a series of worksite posters with a surprisingly personal appeal featuring original photographs of the company’s own protective gear. This was supported by a handbook packed with tips and resources to help managers present more effective safety briefings. After launching in two facilities in the United States, more sites across the country and in Mexico and Canada requested their own versions.
