Ever gotten into a debate about office habits with your college kids? Welcome to the new workplace reality!

As a generation that’s generally more in touch with how they feel about any given topic, Gen Zers (1997-2012) don’t hold back on their workplace pet peeves. A recent Newsweek article explores how Gen Z is struggling to work with Boomers. It’s not just the age difference. It’s changing attitudes about work and evolving technologies—which many in the older generation don’t recognize, let alone share. The disconnect is further inflamed by how we communicate. And guess what? These are the same conversations I’m having with my own college kids. From “Reply All” overload to tech queries that could easily be resolved through an online search, these intergenerational dynamics play out at work and at home.

So how do we bridge the gap? The first step is to understand what’s important to various stakeholders. Check out this Washington Post article on how companies are adapting to a new generation of employees.

How are you navigating these differences in your workplace? What are your workplace pet peeves? Share your thoughts. I’d love to learn from you.
